The Great Cardboard Boat Regattaź

Thanks for your interest in the Regatta program. Here is some information that may be useful if you are interested in setting up a sanctioned Regatta.

First, you should know that all the materials related to the Regatta program--including operating procedures, "The Rules," The Event Producers Manual, and related documents--are covered under federal copyright, service mark, and trademark. All Rights Reserved. In short, these materials are not to be duplicated in any form, electronic or print, without prior written permission from the TIPS Foundation, Inc.

Okay, now that we have that said, on to the details. Two packets of information are available to persons or organizations interested in hosting a Regatta: the Inquiry Packet and the Agreement Packet.

Inquiry Packet. This packet is sent, on request, to persons who want to explore the possibility of hosting a Regatta in their own hometown or for their organization or business. It contains several items that have proven valuable in attracting partners who can be a great help in organizing a Regatta:

  1. "The Rules" are standard for all Regattas -- for two reasons. First, they are copyrighted. Second, in order to be fair to all involved, the Regattas are conducted the same way no matter where they are held.

  2. Video productions are combined onto one VHS tape so that you can attract partners you will need to set up a Regatta.

  3. The current schedule of Regattas helps you to identify available dates. This list contains more detail than is shown on the online schedule.

  4. "An Introduction to The Event Producers Manual" contains the Executive Summary, Table of Contents, and introductory pages from the manual. The entire manual is sent once you sign a Licensing Agreement with TIPS Foundation, Inc.

Once you have reviewed these materials, if you decide you want to host a Regatta, then you request the . . .

Agreement Packet. The second packet contains the Licensing and Consulting Agreement, which establishes a working relationship between your organization and TIPS Foundation, Inc., for the purpose of presenting a Regatta in your locale. It also contains a detailed and annotated statement of the contents of the manual, a copy of the current "Event Producers Newsletter," and such other materials as you may need to weigh anchor and get underway!

Much of this material can be sent online, via USPS (snail-mail), or by delivery service, depending on your urgency. The license is renewable annually. Because the Regatta program is specifically set up to provide licenses and consultation -- and the Regatta itself, of course -- subsequent information is sent only to those who have a signed Licensing Agreement with TIPS Foundation, Inc.
